Biography

Mohammed Abdel Hakim Farrah, Associate  Professor in Applied Linguistics (Teaching English as a Foreign Language and Technology in Language Learning and Teaching), graduated with a BA from Hebron  University in 1994 in English Language and Literature, MA in TESOL from International Islamic  University in Malaysia in 1999, Ph.D. in English Language Studies in 2006 from International Islamic  University in Malaysia. There are a number of publications in the field of online learning and online communication and collaborative learning and peer feedback in writing and types of feedback. He supervised 18 MA theses at Hebron University and was an internal and external examiner for 20 MA and Ph.D.  theses. Administrative positions included Chair of the English Department from 2009 until 2013, Editorial Secretary of Hebron University Research Journal from 2007 until the present time, and presented a number of papers in local and international conferences. He is on the Advisory Board of Arab World English Journal and an active member in the APETAU Association

13.  A training workshop that was held at Intercontinental Hotel, Jericho in partnership with An-Najah National, Hebron University, Al-Quds University,  and Canterbury Christ Church University in Britain  within the Language Arts Project " Developing the Teaching of the English Language". The theme of the workshop was "Testing and evaluation and e learning". From 22nd to 28th May 2012.

14.  As part of the Language Arts Pre-service Teacher Education Development Program, I participated in a study visit to Canterbury Christ Church University in Britain from 14th October to /2012 to 24th October, 2012.  The study aimed to: - review the Program outputs (curriculum framework, intended learning outcomes, course descriptions, teaching strategies manuals, ICT materials).

- make necessary revisions to the outputs in the light of this review.

- complete the Quality Assurance Plan for the project

- prepare draft copies of the final versions of the outputs for printing in Palestine

- make preparations for the final end-of-project dissemination workshop

18.  A study visit to Canterbury Christ Church University, Canterbury, Kent to participate in a Study Visit planned for 23rd April to 1st May, 2016 within Erasmus+ Project: Reference Number 561670-EPP-1-2015-1-UK-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP Raising the Quality of Teacher Education Programmes in Palestine – Technology Enhanced Learning Teaching and Assessment (RQTEPP-TELTA). The visit included Workshops on curriculum development and teaching at the higher education level.  Observation of Faculty courses in primary education and discussions with student teachers and university lecturers and a visit to Sturry Primary School, Canterbury.

The study included Meetings with Professor David Shepherd (Deputy Chancellor), Dr. John Moss (Dean of the Faculty of Education and senior members of the Faculty.  Observation of Faculty courses in primary education and discussions with student teachers and university lecturers.  Observation visits to local primary schools and discussions with head teachers and teachers. Workshops on curriculum development, approaches to Inclusive Education and teaching at the higher education level.  A visit to the Universities Council for the Education of Teachers (UCET) annual conference in Stratford-upon-Avon for 2 days and presenting a paper on reflective learning. (7-8 November 2017).
